GETTING STARTED

How to apply mulch:
  1. Prepare the area you wish to mulch by weeding thoroughly.
  2. Determine how much mulch you need. Measure the length and width, then multiply to calculate the area.
  3. Start the farthest distance from your mulch pile and gradually fill in the area to be mulched. Use the back of a rake to spread the mulch evenly.
When should I apply mulch?
  • Spring – promotes seedling growth, protects perennial and bulbs.
  • Summer – prevents weed growth, cools roots, and retains soil.
  • Late fall – Mulch after the first hard frost to protect roots from frost, prevent plant loss, keep plants dormant, and prevent premature blooming.
